INDIA: TROUBLE WITH THE POLICE

On Thursday November 22nd Evangelist Jonathan Barcia, myself, and Pastor Joshua were brought to the police station in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. We were ministering in an outdoor revival meeting when an RSS member called the police to complain about a gospel meeting being conducted outside. The RSS is a fanatic nationwide group of 5 million members, including the prime minister of India. Their goal is to remove all Christians from India.

We continued the meeting until the end and the Pastorsattended to the police. After the meeting, we were taken to the police station. There were about 20 people there. While we were waiting to be questioned, Evangelist Jonathan and myself started praying and quietly speaking in tongues. We then started a conversation back and forth in Spanish openly because we knew that noone there would have a clue of what we were saying.

The police chief started yelling and using many offensive words to accuse and belittle Pastor Joshua in front of everyone. Then he told his officers to arrest him after he spoke to us. They took my passport but returned it to me right away. When he started questioning me as to the purposeof my visit, I answered him. I started asking him some unique and challenging questions about his country and his government. Some of his officers were dyingto arrest me. I became quite theatrical and this apparently amused him. We keptgoing back and forth for about 10 minutes on many different issues. He welcomed the challenge since he seemed quite intellectual. He kept smiling as I posedvarious questions to him.

Their big issue, we discussed, was the conversion of Hindus to Christianity. I reminded him there is a big difference between what they accused Christians of and what actually happens. No one is forced to convert. Conversionsis by choice by their free will.

He finally released us, as well as Pastor Joshua, with awarning not to preach outside without their permission, which they would not grant without a high amount of money being paid to the court as well as to thepolice for their protection.

We plan on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ boldly where ever God sends us. The Lord will move as he did in the book of Acts. Thank you so much for praying for us and our host pastors. Although we were challenged, God truly gave us a great victory tonight.
